Capirotada #2/Mexican Bread Pudding #2

Se parten unos picones por la mitad, se untan de mantequilla y se meten al horno a que doren. Se pone a hervir un litro de leche con 4 huevos batidos, 50 gramos de mantequilla, unas pasas, unas ciruelas de España, una raja de vainilla, unas nueces molidas y azúcar al gusto. Se saca de la lumbre cuando espesa. Fuera de la lumbre se le pone una copa de Jerez dulce. Se unta una cazuela de mantequilla y harina. Se pone una capa de pan y otra de la mezcla de leche, hasta terminar con leche. Arriba se le pone azúcar y polvo de pan. Se mete al horno a 350 grados por 45 minutos.

Slice some "picones" (found at Mexican bakeries)in half and butter halves; place in oven to toast.
Boil a mixture of : 4 cups of milk, 4 beaten eggs, 3 to 4 tablespoons butter, some raisins, some prunes, one vanilla bean, some chopped nuts and sugar to taste. Once it's thickened, remove from heat and add about 1/2 c. of sweet sherry. Butter a casserole and dust with some flour. Place a layer of the "picones " bread, than some milk mixture and repeat ending with the milk mixture. Top with some sugar and bread crumbs. Place in oven at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
